As fas as I know RVP didn’t want to leave Arsenal. He was forced to move when Arsenal decided that in view of his advancing age and multiple injuries that he was surplus to requirements and sold him to Man U on the last transfer day. The rest is history. So Arsenal has no reason to be bitter
